Contact lenses For Astigmatism

For several years, those with astigmatism were advised that they could not don contact lense to adjust their vision. Now, not only will astigmatism be remedied along with special contact lense known as torics, but wearers employ a selection around a wide range of materials, brands, and replacing plans. Primary it helps to understand what astigmatism is. Astigmatism occurs when portion of your eye (usually your cornea, though other kind exist) is oval instead of round. This leads to complications with the way that light and images are mirrored through to the rear of your eye, or retina, where nerve endings convert those light waves into the images or pictures which you find.

The way that contact lense correct it is that they are spherical and handle the oval shape of the cornea. In this way, the eye will get it’s signals from the accurately formed lenses rather than the misshapen cornea. Toric contact lense have 2 types of modification with them, one to right to the shape of your cornea, and the additional to adjust for either nearsightedness or farsightedness. As they have some rigidity and thus keep their shape easily, your eye treatment specialist may suggest gas permeable (GP) contact lense if your astigmatism is pronounced. However, very mild types of astigmatism might be solved with regular, non-toric contact lense. When your level of astigmatism drops someplace in the centre, soft toric contact lense, which are available even in disposable contact lense, might be the best option for you.

If you want bifocal contact lense and have astigmatism, you can even find contact lens suitable for you. The best technique for this can probably recommending toric contact lense to compensate for that astigmatism and ultizing the monovision modification way of the bifocals. In this case, 1 eye is remedied for distance vision as well as additional is solved for close to vision, rather than getting the two modifications on the same lens. If you and your eye care professional decide that contact lense are the best choice for your astigmatism, be aware that because they require more complicated fitting and have two levels of correction in them, both the fitting and the contact lense themselves will be more expensive than other contact lense.

Do contact lenses for astigmatism also take care for near sight vision?

Do contact lenses for astigmatism also take care for near sight vision?

Thanks William W for the tip
They are separate issues. Contacts are made that can handle both problems.

Thanks betsy for the tip
I am very near-sighted and also have mild astigmatism, and I wear contacts that take care of both. Not sure what brand they are, but they do make them for both.

And contacts are amazing! Definitely go for it!

Thanks kasumicat for the tip
Contacts can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. I wear a contact lens in my left eye to correct astigmatism.

Go for the contact lenses, they are so much better than eyeglasses.

Good Luck
